Fucus is a brown algae from rocky shores, from the fucaceae family, which owes its name to the presence of gas vesicles in its morphology. The active part of the alga are the perennial stems, which contain mucilaginous polysaccharides and mineral salts. It is a remineralizing species, being the most important mineral, and that gives medicinal meaning to the seaweed, iodine.
Properties
Traditionally, fucus has been used as a metabolic activator thanks to the presence of iodine (promoting weight loss by increasing the burning of calories). A satiating effect has also been demonstrated due to the inhibition of α-amylase and α-glucosidase. Likewise, various studies suggest its palliative use of the symptoms of skin aging, avoiding the reduction of the thickness of the dermis and increasing its elasticity.
Main indications
Overweight.
satiating.
Skin antiaging.
How to use
Take 1-2 capsules a day.
Precautions
Due to the presence of iodine, its use is not recommended in case of thyroid problems (it can alter TSH levels), menstrual disorders (since it has a certain estrogenic effect), or lithium treatments (in bipolar disorders).
Pregnancy, lactation and children under 18 years of age: It is recommended not to administer.
